My name is Dr. Jennie L. Hanna and I teach English at MacArthur High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. In addition to teaching high school, I also work as an adjunct professor at Cameron University and the University of Oklahoma.
In 2018, I earned my Ph.D. in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum from the University of Oklahoma. My dissertation focused on military-connected adolescents as an invisible minority in public education and that is currently slated to come out as a the book Forgotten Conscripts: Understanding the Needs of Military-Connected Adolescents with Rowman & Littlefield in early 2022. I continue to conduct research and write on the military culture, secondary education, English Language Arts, and marginalized groups. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as a journalist at The Lawton Constitution and The Clinton Daily News. I am also a military veteran, which is also where I met my husband, Chris. We have one son, Christopher, who is currently serving in the Air Force. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading novels - often indulging in more than one at a time - getting lost in a good series on Netflix, and watching the Green Bay Packers dominate in football...most days.
